Helix Hell Part 2

These were just a chore! And there's still one left to do. One of them had to be done as a crashed one when I lost the tail fins and wheel struts. Still, they are a good addition to my Soviet Naval Infantry forces. Flight stands are small GW ones.

Skirmish on the edge of Khemikhal

 The first actual tabletop battle was a small affair fought last night.  US forces comprised 302/1, a Marine company of 4 Infantry,  an HMG support platoon and an 81mm support platoon along with an FAO for naval gunfire support.   Facing them was a mixed Khemed force of an armoured recce company of 2 BRDM2 & 2 BMP-2's,  an Infantry company of 4 Infantry,  mortar and HMG and an artillery battery of 3 on table 152mm guns (represented by some 100mm AT guns). Shown above is the outskirts of town,  looking south towards the coast. (I place Khemed as being next to Yemen on the southern coast of the Arabian peninsula). The Marines needed to seize the village and hold it until nightfall on turn 8. Khemed forces would enter from the road to the right in a random order. CWC Commanders Big Game Weekend

This weekend was the annual CWC game hosted at The Unit by the inestimable Richard Phillips. The set up was the proposed invasion of Denmark by various Soviet and East German NVA forces.  The area of operations was a bathtubbed area around the splendidly named Middelfart and it's bridge linking the island of Funen/Fyn and the city of Odense to mainland Denmark. My battle was to involve naval infantry and VDV forces on the eastern end of the bridge seeking to sweep aside Danish forces defending the bridge approach. The main table was the Western area with a combined force of motor rifle and tank regiments taking on scratch NATO forces of West Germans, US Airborne and British.  The view looking west along the E20 highway. Crisis Point Day 2

Day 2 started with the dizzying highs and crashing lows of the CWC 2 Command system. The JS3 battalion attempted to get into the fight with the first dice rolls of the day. A double 1 command bonus! They then rolled a command blunder on the next roll!  More airstrikes we're called in by both sides. I don't recall any targets being destroyed, but suppressions caused the advancing Soviets to slow down their advance.  the Mig 15 was neither use nor ornament!  overall view of the action on day 2.  The JS3s finally get into action.  The battle raged on, with the Soviet T44s on the right flank making more ground and trading shots with the Czech armour.
