Crisis Point Day 2

Day 2 started with the dizzying highs and crashing lows of the CWC 2 Command system. The JS3 battalion attempted to get into the fight with the first dice rolls of the day. A double 1 command bonus! They then rolled a command blunder on the next roll!
More airstrikes we're called in by both sides. I don't recall any targets being destroyed, but suppressions caused the advancing Soviets to slow down their advance.
the Mig 15 was neither use nor ornament!
overall view of the action on day 2.
The JS3s finally get into action.

The battle raged on, with the Soviet T44s on the right flank making more ground and trading shots with the Czech armour. The infantry on the left finally began to benefit from supporting fire from the JS3s and some brave riflemen were seen to be shouting "urrah!" and charging some of the entrenched infantry. Break points were perilously close to being reached and breached on both sides. There could be a gamey element to targeting anything that could add to the breakpoint, but the armour was advancing and targets such as half tracks, trucks and AA guns were presenting themselves once the Czech armour had been shot up. Success and the road to Prague was open, but at a terrible cost. Strictly speaking, I imagine the Soviet commander would have used the JS3 tanks to reinforce the successful advance of the T44 battalions, according to their doctrine, rather than lending their support to the struggling infantry.

More shots of the action from the TacWW2 game:
A great weekend of gaming, fought in an excellent spirit. Thanks again to Mr C and family for their work in setting it all up and providing tasty hot food. The venue worked great and is in a fine location, I look forward to the next event!

  1. Great to read what was happening on the CWC table. Didn't get to see much due to the hordes of JS-2's and ISU-152's advancing towards my lowly battalion if Hetzers 😂

  2. Nice write up sir! It's always interesting to see the battle from the opposite point of view.
