The.road to Bodoni

In their drive to the capital, the Cacadores of the 1st Independent Mechanised Brigade are tasked with finding a path over a ridge line to drive on to Bodoni. Initial Recce reveals that a force of San Serriffe infantry with some armour are holding the ridge. The San Serriffe forces are ordered to hold the ridge at all costs. Programmed responses are diced for, they will respond to the central attack by pulling in flanking forces if possible, but no ground is to be given.
initial deployment, the first company of Portuguese infantry in M3 Panhards APCs with M60A1 tanks on the right. The Portuguese ran straight up the road but the second company was slow to deploy, and when it did, around turn 4, it was less than dynamic until a Command Bonus got them closing to bayonet point.
San Serriffe infantry and a T34/85 (the promised T55s were instead guarding the division field kitchen and wine cellar.)
82mm mortar, infantry and armour on the hill and in the trees.
The San Serriffe artillery spotter was reasonably efficient, calling in artillery from the 122mm support. Where artillery hit the same area twice, I've added some craters to represent broken ground that hinders movement.
The Portuguese armour was not stellar in it's performance, however the AP fire did some good work in providing accurate fire that suppressed San Serriffe infantry that were dug in in the buildings whilst Portuguese infantry closed assaulted.
The supporting Portuguese artillery did some damage as well, hence the D12 next yo the building. I couldn't find anything in the CWC2 rules that told me how many hits a building could have, so I reasoned that 6 would be acceptable.
The second company of Cacadores pushed through the battered remnants of the first and assaulted the infantry in the woods. This took the San Serriffe forces to their Break Point and they failed a command roll. Plus it was 12.30am, so I called it for the brave forces of Portugal.
This was a close game with a great scenario from the book. I'll use it to fight more battles in future-the programmed deployment , orders and responses make for an interesting encounter.
