Can't see the wood for the trees

Image
Apart from trying to get a game in, I'm using these welcome Easter hols to try and work through my To Do pile of terrain projects. First up, a bag of random eBay trees.  Some pine trees first of all.  a deciduous wood plus some individual trees in bloom. They can makenice additions to urban areas, gardens etc. rebased craters from the smaller circular bases, which were a bit crowded. These cover a more suitable area. Probably just to provide scenic interest rather than blocks to movement in game.  Moylans Light Dragoons, an AWI Rebel cavalry formation.  This Saturday will be the Lead & Steel Oldhammer event, so looking forward to that. On the workbench are some French 7YW cavalry that have been sat around for a while plus an original Warlord Titan, to be painted in a Traitor livery.

The Wire

I'm trying to work through some items from the Lead Pile. First up, a section of wire for field defences. CWC2 has them, once I'd found the stats after 2 redirections in the rules, as being purchased in 5cm sections. So I've made a mix of 10cm and 5cm sections. The wire I have only allowed for 10 of the 10cm sections, I'll order some more to finish the rest. Next up is some housekeeping - basing up my BTR60s for the Naval Infantry to use, potentially at Dragon Strike at the Unit..

However, there were some nice looking games- 2 very colourful Warhammer: The Old World, one of which was as colourful as the 90s WFB heyday, with lots of goblins and squigs of many colours. We'll draw a discreet veil over the unpainted minis..  I stopped for a brief chat with the friendly gents running a game of Legions Imperialis, Solar Auxilia facing off against Word Bearers.  There was a second game of Warhammer, with a beach landing style scenario: Battlemats have definitely improved the looks of games, from the ground up, as it were.  I had a very acceptable pint of Alpacalypae IPA and, fortified by that and no lunch, I bought a vintage copy of the Citadel Journal issue 25, for nostalgia pu...
