Action at Port Grenville

Image
The southern advance of TF Kroesen was met with a force of Cubans advancing from the port town. Their aim was to delay and hinder the advancing US forces before withdrawing.  The battlefield. The Cubans plan was to secure some of the buildings as a base of fire.  TF Kroesen consisted of 1 full infantry company (4 infantry, 2 Gama Goats), an understrength company of 3 infantry, a support company of a Dragon, 2 mortars and a HMG platoon, with Gama Goat transport. They were supported by an FAO and FAC.  Cuban forces were an infantry company in BTR60s, a company of PT76 light tanks and an FAO with 3 122mm guns in support.  The Cubans began, with a number of failed command rolls, so their advance was slow up to the buildings. The 82nd forces were equally slow.  In turn 2, the FAC, with support from one of the advancing Recce jeep units (M151 MUTT jeeps), called in air support from an A7 Avenger II. However, this was driven off by AA fire from command units.

Delaying action

I managed to fight a small delaying action today. Task Force Kroesen, advancing down the east coast, has been met by a small Cuban battle group of an infantry company with artillery support and a company of PT 76 tanks. A full AAR will follow later.  the battle is taking place in G6, guarding the approach to the settlement of Port Grenville.

Going downtown, where there's music...

The last time I posted during a half term, my plans had been laid low by a bout of norovirus. History, along with my intestines, has repeated, as last week I, along with a good proportion of my colleagues and KS1 children, we're laid low by a nasty dose of said virus that wrought havoc at work. Normality had just about reasserted itself by Saturday. In time for me to catch Cast at the Students Union.  That said, I've used the time off to catch up on painting some of the 3D printed civilian vehicles I bought at Joy of Six. I also needed some MDF bases for Notables for Maurice plus to base up the Baccus 8th Army Vickers guns teams for the East Africa campaign planned for 2025. The seller on eBay also had these at a very reasonable £6.79 for the four.  Theyve had a white spray undercoat, but I think I'll get a grey spray to use for undercoating and to act as a base colour for these. I think they will do nicely for Europe, Khemed or even a game of classic Adeptus Ti

Grand Battery, Andreivia style

The Honourable Black Sea Company will need some artillery for the next Crisis Point games. To that end, they have retained the services of various European professional gunners, who have created the artillery branch of the Company service. The gunners are using some older style models of guns that were a dowry from some minor princess of a cadet branch of the Hapsburgs who was married off to a Scion of the Andreivian royal family. They are, in fact, the siege guns from the early 18th century Baccus range.

Somewhere in Austria, 1985

Andy T voyaged over the passes today to Sheffield, via the less travelled route of Winnats Pass, due to the Snake Pass being shut (for who knows how long?) Andy was keen to give his NVA army a run out, a Panzer Brigade that has been prepared for the Cold War Commanders big game next month at The Unit in Staffordshire. Facing them was a hurried deployment of the 82nd Airborne, deployed from Italy into Austria as part of NATO's southern flank, where the decision to override niceties such as neutrality has been taken, in order to stem the WarPac advance.
